Our historic Woodline range needed a bit of a makeover. The result? 4 new volume ranges to meet the challenges of modern climbing.

Today’s climbing

Over the last 10 years, the movements used in climbing, and particularly in bouldering, have evolved considerably, to the point where the old guard is now unable to cope with double/triple dynos, coordination, skate, slide, and paddle moves to name but a few. Volumes are largely responsible for this evolution, since they allow setters to add relief and play around with angles and slopes to create the craziest movements that sometimes defy the laws of gravity.

Rethinking Artline’s old standards

In light of this (r)evolution, we took a fresh look at our legacy Woodline range to identify the bestsellers and bring them into line with current trends. We modelled them in 3D so you can see the volume inside and out!

Flat Triangle

The Flat Triangle is a range of super-flat triangular volumes, ideally designed for bouldering. Their highly streamlined shape means they can add just a hint of raised surface for ultra-precise moves, mainly on slabs. They are available in 4 sizes (S, M, L, XL) with 3 heights each for routesetters to play with!

Ramp

The Ramp range is a set of 21 rectangular volumes available in 3 sizes: M/L/XL and 7 angles from 65° to 135°. With varying lengths and angles, these highly versatile volumes can be used in bouldering or on a lead route to fine-tune a slab, break up overhangs, allow for a skate move, a mantle, etc.

Triamid & Squamid

Through these 2 ranges, ArtLine is proud to announce an innovative concept: volumes with a similar shape that are positioned on their complementary bases, called ‘adjusters.’ Turning  the volumes on their adjusters makes it possible to fine-tune several aspects:

With these 4 new ranges, the setter has a host of possible adjustments and options to give free rein to his/her imagination and invent the movements of the future. Like here at Atome where the setters were in action for the 1-year anniversary competition.
